Community Rules
1. Be Respectful and Kind
Treat all community members with respect and dignity. We have zero tolerance for:
- Harassment and bullying: Targeting individuals with repeated unwanted contact, intimidation, or hostile behavior
- Hate speech: Content that promotes violence or hatred against people based on race, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender, age, veteran status, or sexual orientation
- Discrimination: Treating people unfairly based on protected characteristics
- Personal attacks: Insulting, demeaning, or attacking other users
- Threats: Any form of threat, whether direct or implied
2. Keep Content Safe and Appropriate
Unit42 is a community for all ages. Do not post:
- Sexually explicit content: Pornography, nudity, or sexually suggestive material
- Graphic violence: Gratuitous violence, gore, or disturbing imagery
- Self-harm content: Content that promotes, encourages, or glorifies self-harm or suicide
- Illegal activities: Content promoting or facilitating illegal activities
- Dangerous content: Instructions for creating weapons, drugs, or other harmful items
3. Be Honest and Authentic
- No impersonation: Don't pretend to be someone else or create fake accounts
- No misinformation: Don't deliberately spread false information, especially about health, safety, or emergencies
- Disclose affiliations: Be transparent about business interests or financial relationships when making recommendations
- One account per person: Don't create multiple accounts to evade bans or manipulate the platform
4. Protect Privacy
- No doxxing: Don't share others' personal information (addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, etc.) without consent
- Respect boundaries: Don't share photos or information about others without permission
- Be cautious with your own information: Think carefully before sharing personal details publicly
- Report privacy violations: If someone shares your private information, report it immediately
5. No Spam or Manipulation
- No spam: Don't post repetitive content, excessive promotions, or irrelevant links
- No vote manipulation: Don't use multiple accounts or coordinate with others to artificially inflate engagement
- No bots: Don't use automated tools to post content or interact with the platform without permission
- Authentic engagement only: Don't buy, sell, or trade engagement (likes, comments, followers)
6. Commercial Activity Guidelines
We welcome local businesses as part of our community, but commercial activity must be appropriate and respectful:
- Relevant promotions: Business promotions should be relevant to the local community
- No excessive advertising: Don't spam the community with constant promotional posts
- Add value: Participate authentically beyond just promoting your business
- Follow community rules: Business accounts must follow all community guidelines
- Respect "no soliciting" preferences: Honor community-specific rules about commercial posts
7. Respect Intellectual Property
- Don't post copyrighted content: Only share content you have the right to share
- Give credit: Attribute content to original creators when appropriate
- Respect trademarks: Don't use others' brands or logos without permission
- Report violations: If you see copyright infringement, report it to us
8. Follow the Law
- No illegal content: Don't post content that violates local, state, or federal laws
- No illegal transactions: Don't use Unit42 to facilitate illegal sales or services
- No fraud or scams: Don't attempt to defraud or deceive other users
- Comply with regulations: Follow all applicable laws and regulations
Content Moderation
Automated Moderation
To keep our community safe, we use advanced AI technology to automatically review all posts and comments:
- Real-time screening: Every post and comment is analyzed using OpenAI's latest moderation model before it appears on the platform
- Multiple categories: Content is checked for harassment, hate speech, sexual content, violence, self-harm, and other prohibited categories
- Automatic action: Content that violates our guidelines may be automatically removed or flagged for review
- Continuous improvement: Our moderation systems are regularly updated to better protect our community
User Reporting
Our community members are our first line of defense. You can help keep Unit42 safe by reporting problematic content:
- Report button: Every post and comment has a report option
- Select a reason: Choose the category that best describes the violation
- Human review: Our moderation team reviews all reported content
- Confidential: Reports are anonymous and the reported user won't know who flagged their content
- Timely response: We aim to review reported content within 24 hours
What to Report
Please report content that:
- Violates our community guidelines
- Harasses or threatens you or others
- Contains illegal content
- Shares private information without consent
- Is spam or manipulation
- Infringes on intellectual property rights
- Makes you feel unsafe or uncomfortable
Appeals Process
If your content is removed or your account is restricted, you can appeal:
- Submit an appeal: Use the appeal option in your notification or contact legal@unit42.app with "Appeal" in the subject line
- Explain your case: Provide context for why you believe the decision was incorrect
- Review process: A different moderator will review your appeal
- Final decision: You'll receive a response within 3-5 business days
Enforcement and Consequences
When community guidelines are violated, we may take the following actions:
⚠️ Warning
For minor or first-time violations, we may issue a warning and remove the content.
🔇 Temporary Restriction
You may temporarily lose the ability to post, comment, or use certain features (typically 1-7 days).
🚫 Account Suspension
For serious or repeated violations, your account may be suspended for an extended period (7-30 days).
⛔ Permanent Ban
Severe violations (threats, illegal content, extreme harassment) result in permanent account termination.
Factors We Consider
- Severity of the violation
- Intent (accidental vs. deliberate)
- History of violations
- Impact on other users
- Context and circumstances
Immediate Bans
The following violations result in immediate permanent bans without warning:
- Threats of violence or terrorism
- Child exploitation or abuse
- Sharing non-consensual intimate images
- Coordinated harassment campaigns
- Attempting to hack or compromise the platform
- Creating accounts to evade previous bans
Community-Specific Guidelines
Individual communities may establish additional rules that apply within their space:
- Local rules: Communities can set their own guidelines for topics, posting frequency, and behavior
- Community moderators: Local moderators help enforce both platform-wide and community-specific rules
- Respect local culture: Each community has its own norms and expectations
- When in doubt: Check the community's specific guidelines before posting
Note: Community-specific guidelines cannot override or contradict these platform-wide Community Guidelines.
Safety Tips
Protecting Yourself Online
- Don't share sensitive personal information publicly (full address, phone number, financial details)
- Use strong, unique passwords and enable two-factor authentication
- Be cautious about meeting people from online in person
- Trust your instincts—if something feels wrong, report it
- Block users who make you uncomfortable
- Review your privacy settings regularly
Meeting in Person
If you decide to meet someone from Unit42 in person:
- Meet in a public place
- Tell a friend or family member where you're going
- Bring your phone and keep it charged
- Trust your instincts and leave if you feel uncomfortable
- Don't feel obligated to share personal information
Recognizing Scams
Be wary of:
- Requests for money or financial information
- Too-good-to-be-true offers or deals
- Pressure to act quickly or urgently
- Requests to move conversations off-platform
- Suspicious links or attachments
Supporting Mental Health
If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of self-harm or suicide, please reach out for help:

- International Association for Suicide Prevention: Find your country's helpline
If you see content that suggests someone may be at risk of self-harm, please report it immediately so we can provide resources and support.
